Old Lady In Bersih 2.0 – OnlyAtMalaysia.blogspot.com
Who is this old lady wearing yellow shirt? Her name is Annie and she is 65 years old. She is a retired English teacher. She had served in the Malaysian education industry for about 35 years.

On the morning of 9th July 2011, she took the public transport to Kuala Lumpur alone and was stopped by the police 4 times.

The police asked her why she wore yellow T-shirt. She answered with the question calmly, “Why can’t I wear yellow shirt?”

The police left her alone respectfully.

She didn’t know the starting time of the Bersih 2.0 rally. She even not sure where is her location in the Kuala Lumpur city.

When police started to fire tear gas to the public, there were people asked Annie to run away.

However, the old lady told the people there: “I only request a peaceful appeal. Why there is no people want to listen? We cannot go away, if we go away, how about our future?”

The comrades around her were filled with tears after listen to her words.

Auntie Annie’s photographs showing her participation and her words are circulated speedily in the internet and Facebook.

Her proclamation is a wakeup call to many young adults who had thought like “this country is like that one”, “it is useless to do anything” and all the pessimistic perception.

Your spirit is with all of us. We salute you!
